No, I think Mitch isn’t happy with his life because after he graduated. He tries to go ahead to achieve his dream--- to be a famous singer and enjoy his life. But in fact, after his uncle died, it is impossible for him to continue his dream and do the things he wants. That makes him forget to keep in touch with his professor although he promises to do it. He even throws the letter from the university because he thinks that only ask for money. We can see that he change a lot and be a man that he never dreams to be. This is a “tensions of opposite.” He has to earn a master degree and work to make money. Every day is regular and just repeats what he did yesterday. Also, there is a quote from the book to prove it, it says: “My days were full, yet I remained, much of the time, unsatisfied.” So in fact he doesn’t like it. He wants to live freely and he promises never work for money. But in fact he can’t. He wants to create his own culture as the professor said but he has to work and travel to make reports. He only wants to talk to his old favorite professor Morrie and learn some live lesson from his old coach. He also wants to learn something important from the professor so that he can make his life better. The professor said: “Death, Fear, Aging, Greed, Marriage, Family, Society and Forgiveness is equal a meaningful life.” Mitch finds the people live around him is all care about their own business and they don’t have the time to care about these things. But he wants to change and think about the death. Because the professor says: “when person who knows his death, he will change a way to live.”
